When Gloria came to live at Lakeside Park, she brought along her cat named Romeo. There used to be a Juliet, but Juliet is in kitty heaven. Gloria has loved cats since she was a little girl and said, “We never had dogs because we’ve always lived in cities and cats do better than dogs in the city”. Unfortunately […]

Mother’s Day is one of our largest events. Many families come to enjoy our brunch prepared by the loving hands of our kitchen staff and Chef JoJo. This year we had over 40 guests and fun was had by all!
Each spring we make hats out of newspaper, masking tape, paint, and cute decorations. Everyone loves posing in the beautiful creations throughout summer. When summer is almost over we display them on our fence until winter. Who would have thought paper hats would last that long and receive so much attention!
We are celebrating our fathers with an old fashioned BBQ. RSVP at the front desk by June 10th.
Intern Ashley started a garden group and the weather is finally warm enough to be in the garden, hooray! Mary is so happy today as she spoons soil in a planter to start planting some beautiful flowers to add color in our garden.
Using rosemary, roses, pine branches, foxtails and other flowers, Shannon leads a class that indeed does awaken the senses. Dipping the different plants in paint creates a work of art while taking in the aroma of all the foliage.
Herbert still finds joy in painting and drawing figures. Herbert’s professional career is cartoonist and he loves it still today.
This year, Intern Shannon dressed up and hopped around to hand out candy eggs to our visiting kids and residents. It doesn’t matter how old you are, the Easter bunny is always a big hit, bringing smiles to everyone.
We have a tradition of making bunny cakes for the Easter holiday and tea party. This year we made 2 bunny cakes and the residents loved making them!

The tradition at Lakeside Park is to create a special Valentine’s for our residents. Our couples dinner was extra special and everyone raved over the wonderful dinner and dessert that was created by JoJo Ferrer, Dining Director and Chef. Music filled the air along with conversation and laughter.
Each month Carla has a Watermark University class that teaches us all about Brazilian dishes. This month it’s Brazilian candy making and everyone loved the beautiful candies from her native country of Brazil.
Federica loves playing her father’s handheld squeezebox. The antique instrument is beautiful and Federica serenades us all daily with the old tunes her father taught her. Isn’t it a wonderful thing her father did to hand down something for other’s to enjoy as much as he and his daughter did.
It was great fun tasting the different potato salads and having staff and residents judge the winner. Carla won the challenge and received a target card for her participation.
The Art Auction was a huge success. The art itself looked as if Picasso was in the house. All proceeds went to the Alzheimer’s Association, a very worthy cause.
Our tradition (and we have many) is to take a turkey dinner with all the trimmings to our first responders. The guys were so happy when Anne, Shirley, and Jan arrived at the station. They asked if they could eat the food tonight and not wait until Thanksgiving Day.
Carla has a passion for cooking and she brought Brazil to us in her wonderful pastéis. Born in So. Brazil, Carla has been making pastéis for her family and friends for most of her life. JoJo and T.J. are in a race to make their rendition of Bananas Foster. The residents had so much fun voting on their favorite chef and the end result was enjoyed by all.
It is a tradition like many at Lakeside that we honor our “First Responders” with a delicious breakfast! JoJo makes ready made omelets, along with fresh fruit, muffins and fresh juices. We thank them for their service and the residents had a great time visiting and taking photos.
The bake sale earned a whopping $65.00 and the residents and volunteers had a great time. The neighborhood loves to take walks to the park and our building is on the pathway to the lake and park luckily for us!! All proceeds go to the Alzheimer’s Association.
June brings many things, including the first day of summer! Lakeside Park volunteers had a Bake Sale and $120.00 was made all to be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association. Great job to our volunteers for making the sign and selling the cake pops, cookies and iced tea!!
In California, we are so blessed to have apricots. The season is very short and we were lucky enough to get Blenheim’s, which is like the 24 carat gold apricot. Lakeside Park Apricot Jam, there’s nothing like it.
Come join us each 3rd Thursday of the month for an event that leaves you more informed than when you came in the door. Chef JoJo always makes tasty morsels and Ann is so knowledgeable in the field, it’s a win win for all!
This Watermark University class has really taken off. Rene (Claire’s daughter) brings her French presses and all kinds of tasty treats and creates a bistro in our 2nd floor dining room. Fiona and Dr. Bancroft enjoyed the sunshine. The best days are spent in our garden, and everyone is thankful for the great weather.
As the weather warms you will find us outside in the garden. Don loves keeping the garden watered and finds it a very meaningful way to spend his time.
We are thrilled each day when the residents complete a piece of art. We occasionally receive fresh flowers from different businesses and the Intern Team use the flowers for art projects. They are masterpieces!
The bunny arrived just in time to bring good cheer to everyone at the Easter Tea Party. Fiona was the bunny this year, and she was just as cute as a bunny’s ear. The Community Life team made the bunny cake and it was served at our tea party. What a great day!
Passover was enjoyed by all! This year, as always, Renee and Bill led the celebration and we also had lots of help from our Bishop O’Dowd student volunteers. Thanks to all for a wonderful Lakeside tradition.
We want to pay homage to our intern team lead by their clinical supervisor Marguerite Manteau-Rao, AT/MSW. One of the things that sets us apart from other communities is our intern program. The intern team is an integral part of our community in that they have a new lens, they work very close with the wellness […]
Our couples had a great night and were thankful to be transported by tunes of “My Funny Valentine” to another place and time where it was nothing but magical. From the Butternut Squash Soup to the Peach Flambé, everyone had smiles on their faces and love in their hearts.
Come join us on the 3rd Thursday of each month. Anne Sanabria lines up guest speakers and our chef JoJo always has a wonderful sampling of his favorite recipes.
Come join us for our scrumptious buffet. This year we will be taking reservations early as this day is our largest turnout with our families and friends. Happy Thanksgiving. Please RSVP at the front desk.
